Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays
My Papa has recently turned into a technology guru. I never thought that I’d say that about my little 80-year-old grandpa who at first could barely type. Last Christmas my husband and I decided to get wildblue statellite internet for him, so he’d have a way to keep in touch with all his family that still lives in the city. Since that time, he has spent most of his time on the Internet blowing up our extended family’s email with animated forwards. Papa most recently joined Facebook, and it has added a whole new element to his online experience. He’s now posting pictures and articles, commenting on pictures I’d never thought he’d see, and he’s even begun to poke people. Earlier this week he typed and posted my Grandma’s recipe for chicken casserole, and 19 people made comments thanking him. I would have never thought to post her old recipes that I love so much online, but am really grateful that they now have a platform to preserve and share all of her recipes. I can’t wait to see what Papa thinks of doing on the internet next.
